Mat Smith is an independent photographer based in Chiswick, West London, in business since 2006, photographing business leaders, legal and political professionals, academics, authors, artists and musicians on location across London, the UK and beyond. Our shoots happen in the client's office, home or a chosen London location, with mobile lighting. Alternatively we can work in a studio.

The brief

Stylised character study shots on black, at the subject's home in West London. We set up our studio in her 7x4m living room. Subject had been photographed in professional setting many times, but never before allowed adequate time with a photographer to capture a more flattering portrait, with greater depth of character - so that was our aim here.
